Day 3: How did you discover you were kinky?
Well, I always had a thing for bondage – it seemed like. I liked the idea of being tied up during sex. I don’t know how this notion came about – but it just happened. I remember getting my F to do it for the first time. I think I felt a little nervous but not really, because I thought that this was normal. I was surprised when he said he had never thought of it. So I was a little afraid that I was going to be seen as the weird one in the relationship. It pretty much just started out with bondage – but then it went into spanking and kind of spiraled out from there. Now, I’m in a nice healthy relationship with BDSM elements here and there.

I actually answered this same question last year for Insatiable Desire. Well, for my F (short for fiance) and I we kind of have a slight switch from time to time – but we mostly stay in certain roles. Sadly, I have learned that “switch” relationships are looked down upon in the BDSM community. So at times I don’t like to admit that we have a “switch” type relationship. Though, the “switch” aspect happens rarely, because I am normally the submissive and my F is the dominant. I don’t feel comfortable taking on the dominant role at all, so it rarely happens. I do however enjoy being a submissive greatly, I love being able to let go of my control and put my trust in my F to take care of me the way he sees fit. I have a high pain tolerance, so I am fine with being punished by spankings or even having my breasts flogged – so punishment or discipline is also a part of our BDSM relationship.
We are not in a 24/7 relationship, I do have a “public” collar type necklace that I will wear from time to time out in public though. We aren’t exactly open about it, we keep much of our sexual and personal lives to ourselves. Which is part of the reason I have this blog, I love to talk about it – but I would rather talk about it in an open environment where I don’t have to worry about being judged for doing certain things I enjoy. In day to day life, I am naturally headstrong, opinionated, independent, and very dominant. So it’s great to be able to feel the release of control when I hand myself over to my F to take care of me. Recently we have been incorporating more discipline into our relationship as well which helps to keep me motivated. I’ve had to go on a special diet so if I don’t properly keep track like I should, I have to answer to my F for it. It’s the same with a couple of my other bad habits, though I admit it’s a little fun to let it slip from memory from time to time so I do get a swat on the tush.

Japanese Bondage Rope
Thanks to the great shop, Pink Cherry sex toys – I was given the chance to try out the bondage toy, cotton rope – for the very first time. You might be looking at this kind of strangely – I mean you may be thinking “Rope – what’s the big deal about it?” or “I could get that any old place.” Well, there is a lot you can do with rope and yes you could get it any where, but if you want to try out some great “shibari” or rope bondage, you need the perfect kind of rope. This Japanese Style Cotton Rope is manufactured by Doc Johnson made of 100% cotton and 32 feet (10 meters) long. The length works well for many rope bondage tricks and gives you lots of room to maneuver. The rope came in clear plastic packaging with a blue information card and there were no raunchy or pornographic images on it at all. The information card tells you a little information about the rope and on the inside there are a few images of a few knots that you can do. The images were a little hard for me to follow because all they consist of are loose looking knot images. I do better using videos and you can find lots of great videos from Two Knotty Boys.

When I opened the package, I had a good impression of the rope – it is really soft and feels nice against the skin. I feel that the product will most likely suit the more beginner and intermediate bondage enthusiasts. You c an use it to do simple things like wrist and ankle restraint with the rope, but if you want to move onto rope bondage techniques you will want to be sure to read up a bit on the subject first. When it comes to bondage, there are safety responsibilities that go along with it. So you will definitely want to make sure you learn the proper techniques to go along with it.
The rope and the instructions it comes with
I did the pull, tug, and tear test on the rope and it holds in nice and strong. The rope is nice and thick not thin and flimsy. I feel like the rope is very well made, it’s woven together and the ends aren’t finished. If you are worried about the unfinished ends fraying even more – you can always clip the ends off with scissors and then quickly paint on them with clear nail polish. Another easy way is to wrap tape around the ends. It all depends on your preference.

Due to the amount included there is more than needed for beginner techniques, I found myself getting a little mixed up due to the amount when doing beginner knots. I’m petite and my partner is tall and slender so we had enough for what we needed. I mostly tried practicing knots and wrist restraints with him with the rope. The rope feels great and doesn’t irritate your skin at all. I got mine in black but you can choose from purple and red as well. I will definitely be going back to Pink Cherry to buy the other colors as well.
As far as washing goes,I have read that you could probably put it in a lingerie bag or one of those bigger bra balls and throw it in the washer. Otherwise you may want to wash it by hand if you feel the need to. I haven’t really needed to wash mine so I can’t be absolutely sure.
All in all, I have a very great impression of the product. It’s great quality, sturdy, and soft, and you have just enough needed to practice getting into rope bondage without having to buy more just yet. This was important for me as I am a beginner to rope bondage and I wasn’t 100% sure on how much I needed. Once I am ready to move onto the elaborate ties I will go ahead and purchase more. I really would love to try color work as well, but that will come once I have had more practice. I highly recommend this rope because my partner and I have had a lot of fun with it so far. I have also managed to do some pretty awesome knot work so I can tell you first hand that once you get the hang of it – it’s not as hard as it looks if that is something you are worried about. Just practice.

Heart 2 Heart Cuffs
The Heart 2 Heart Cuffs are now one of my favorite pairs of restraints that I own. Thanks to the female friendly sex toy shop, Babeland. They were willing to send me these great cuffs in exchange for an honest review. Being a newbie to kink (I have been learning how to practice since the beginning of the year), I have just been beginning my collection of BDSM products. I can say that these restraints are a pride of my collection now. These restraints come in red and black, which look great! The red is a bold shade of “racing red” and the black has a really nice sheen to it. The restraints are beautifully crafted, and the stitching looks very well done and sturdy. They are fairly lightweight restraints, but they have survived all of my tug and pull tests that I have given them. They are made off leather and feature suede lining and adjustable buckles. The suede lining feels extremely soft and sleek and felt very comfortable on my skin.The only smell I noticed on the cuffs was that yummy leather smell, so I had no problem with that. You might if you do not like the smell of leather. Both cuffs are about 2″ inches wide and can easily fit a 6″ to 9″ inch wrist. I will say that they look extremely hot on my partner.

Each restraint has it’s own D ring, which is used to link them together or to other restraints. If you would like to attach them together, you will need to purchase a cuff connector or two if you are wanting to attach them to other restraints such as these tether restraints. Another tip I learned from this great instructional DVD was to use bungee cords to attach the restraints to the bed or other furniture. You wrap and hook one side onto the furniture and then attach the hook on the other end to the D ring on the cuff. For safety reasons I would suggest that you make sure there are no sharp edges on the hooks of the bungee cords you choose to use.

I can see this product suiting anyone that is into bondage, they fit both my partner and I very well. I’m a petite lady and my wrists are a little under 2 inches and they were able to fit me comfortably as well. This is including leaving space for a couple fingers to fit through so they won’t be tight on either me or my partner. Since I am petite, I could probably use these restraints on my ankles as well, though someone with bigger ankles may not be able to. One thing I do love about separate cuffs are that they are very versatile. You are able to position your partner (or the submissive) in various different ways. This is part of the reason I had wanted some so badly in the first place, especially because they are quick to undo and change your partner into a whole new position if pleased. I’m hoping to be able to get a tether kit soon to go along with my single cuffs because I feel that they would come in very handy for the bed or for use with a piece of my sex furniture.
As far as clean up goes, I would just use warm water and then wipe it with a damp cloth. If needed, you could use mild soap as well – but be careful! You don’t want to douse your nice leather toys in water. The product came packaged in a plastic blister pack with nice looking package insert. There was nothing raunchy or weird looking about the packaging. On the back there are pictures of some of the other manufacturers products, which includes another style of cuffs, a blindfold, a collar (which is next on my shopping list), and a whip. All in all I am thrilled with the product and excited that I have another pair of restraints to add to my collection. I suggest that you should get some for yours as well!
