A lot of women shave down below, it just seems like common practice nowadays. I have been for almost 2 years now and it all started when my partner asked me to do so when we were just starting our sexual relationship. Well, to be honest I wasn’t really thrilled with the way he asked me in the first place. He asked me to shave, but only if I was comfortable with the idea because he felt that women with pubic hair were “turn offs”, I mean, I am glad that he was open and honest with me – but this was my first sexual partner so I was already insecure and that was piled on top of my body image issues. I became a little frustrated with the idea, I was in my early twenties at the time and this may seem silly but I did feel that the hair was a sign of my woman-hood,so I felt like I was being forced to get rid of my sign. Sure,I admit that I always kept my hair neatly trimmed, I never did want a raging jungle in my panties. So I took him seriously and thought about it and ended up agreeing to it. I mean, I loved him and cared about his feelings (and I still do) and I certainly did not want anything about my body to be a turn off for him. So on the way home from work, I stopped by a pharmacy store on the way home and armed myself with Veet hair removal cream and bottle of BikiniZone shaving cream. Only what I was planning to do was not so smart….I used the hair removal cream and took all of the hair off. This is a big DON’T! I was lucky that I did not irriatate or harm my most sensitive body assets by doing this. So, make sure you all read the warning labels on the backs of the bottles first, don’t do what I did! After noticing that warning, I never did it again and stuck to shaving.

Now if you are thinking about shaving, do it because you want to do it; not because any one told you to. You may end up like me at first and just look at it like it’s a hassle and may do something that could become painful for you just to get it over with. Kind of like I did with the hair removal cream or maybe you may end up deciding to wax the area before you are ready for it yet. Instead, do it on your own accord and take your time and get used to it. It can even end up just being a way to add to your sexual routine, you can always surprised your partner with a new look or even try making shapes. Now that my partner and I have matured a little, he doesn’t mind hair so much so I have been able to try out the “landing strip” look. My partner is also willing to let me trim his hair as well because I enjoy the sensations of his pelvic area rubbing against me better with less hair there. So you both can use it as a way to try to spice things up as well.

So if you are wanting to go through with it , be sure to do research on shaving cremes and get the one most suitable for your body. You know what you would prefer to put on your own skin. I like to use the Skintimate Extra Gentle Moisturizing Shave Cream. It comes in a green bottle and you don’t have to glob it on to get the full effect. I also prefer it because it doesn’t fluff up like a typical shaving cream. I like this because I can clearly see what I am doing and where my razor is going. As far as razors go – I used to use the cheap disposable ones but I eventually learned that this wasn’t a great idea either when someone suggested that it was better to use a good razor. I now use a multiple blade razor by Gilette, which works great and leaves my skin feeling great. I have sensitive skin sometimes and at times shaving can leave my skin feeling like it had been assaulted because it will tingle and itch afterwards. It also helps to shave in the shower because you have a ledge to prop your leg up on so you can shave the area easier. I also tend to pull my skin taught in places as I shave, it helps me to keep the razor away from my sensitive bits. If you are a little too nervous to shave because you are afraid you may cut your most sensitive parts, you can actually purchase a “Vaj-J-Visor” to protect yourself.

Unfortunately I have not found the right product to help me fight off the razor bumps, but I will keep trying. If you would like more tips on shaving, here is the website I went by when I needed tips on shaving my first time.
